How can faculty create links to library resources?

Answer

In order to provide students with links to online library resources (articles, ebooks, etc.), faculty can create "permalinks" (which are more stable than URLs but not technically permanent - it's always good to check at the beginning of the semester to make sure they still work.)

Most databases will have a "share" option. In EBSCO databases, you can click on the "show more" menu of three dots to see this option:

Opened "share" menu shows options of Google Drive, OneDrive, Create link; the words create link are circled in red.

In JSTOR, the stable link is immediately visible once an article has been opened:

Article title, author, and link that includes the word "stable"; link is circled in red

To link to an ebook found in OneSearch, click on the three-dot "show more" menu, then select "permalink":

Opened "show more" menu shows options: QR code, citation, print, permalink; permalink is circled in red.

Other databases may have slightly different interfaces, but the principle is the same - there should be a way to "share" the document with a stable or permament link.

If you have any trouble locating the link for a source that you would like to provide to students, please contact a librarian for assistance.
